Swing Low/ Follow The River (Festival Version) |SATB Chorus,| 5m

Notes from the publisher

Composer and conductor, Ron Kean, went back to the African roots of Spirituals, back to Africa, to create a setting of this much loved spiritual in a style that is remarkably different.

Part of the larger work, The Journey of Harriet Tubman, the mixed choir is accompanied by Kalimba and Marimba. Soloist and choral body percussion is also included. A superb work for college and community choirs.

Medium to difficult in difficulty.

Swing Low, Sweet Chariot

Swing low, sweet chariot
Comin' for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot
Comin' for to carry me home

I looked over Jordan and what did I see?
Comin' for to carry me home
A band of angels coming after me!

Comin' for to carry me home.

Swing low, sweet chariot

Comin' for to carry me home

Swing low, sweet chariot

Comin' for to carry me home

If you get to heaven before I do
Comin' for to carry me home
Tell all my friends I'm comin' too!

Comin' for to carry me home.

O, Freedom

O, freedom! O, freedom!

O, freedom over me.

And before I'd be a slave

I'd be buried in my grave

And go home to my Lord and be free!

There'll be singin', there'll be singin',

There'll be singin' over me.

And before I'd be a slave

I'd be buried in my grave

And go home to my Lord and be free!
