American Mass |SATB Chorus| 22.5m

American Mass (SATB)Ron Kean
00:00

Notes from the publisher

Here is a masterpiece, a missa brevis merging American hymns and spirituals with traditional choral liturgy.

The solo movements have already been popular singles, but Ron has made careful alterations, simplified the keyboard part, and had the entire work orchestrated by fellow professor, John Gerhold.

The unique nature of this work, and Ron's excellent reputation, will enable this cantata to be performed in both church and school programs.

Let us break bread together

Let us break bread together on our knees.

Let us break bread together on our knees.

When I fall on my knees

With my face to the rising sun,

O Lord, have mercy on me.

Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing

Robert Robinson

Come, Thou Fount of every blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace.
Streams of mercy, never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount, I'm fixed upon it
Mount of Thy redeeming love.

Here I raise my Ebenezer
Here there by Thy great help I've come.
And I hope, by Thy good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wandering from the fold of God.
He, to rescue me from danger
Interposed His precious blood.

Oh, to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be.
Let that goodness like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love.
Here's my heart, oh, take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above.

Swing Low, Sweet Chariot

Swing low, sweet chariot
Comin' for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot
Comin' for to carry me home!

I looked over Jordan, what did I see
Comin' for to carry me home
A band of angels coming after me

Comin' for to carry me home!

Swing low, sweet chariot
Comin' for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot

Comin' for to carry me home!

Shall We Gather At The River

Robert Lowry

Shall we gather at the river,
Where bright angel feet have trod,
With its crystal tide forever
Flowing by the throne of God?

Yes, we'll gather at the river,
The beautiful, the beautiful river;
Gather with the saints at the river
That flows by the throne of God.

Soon we'll reach the silver river,
Soon our pilgrimage will cease;
Soon our happy hearts will quiver
With the melody of peace.
